SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Wiichihiituwin, the incumbent ensures proper management and operational efficiency of the Wiichihiituwin’s Montreal point of operation.
The incumbent also participates in the planning, organization, delivery and control of all service coordination and support activities for patients, social clients, and escorts who have to travel within or outside of Eeyou Istchee to receive health or social services.

REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor degree in Science of Nursing.
- Member in good standing of the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Quebec.
- At least five (5) years of clinical experience in nursing including 2 years with Cree clients.
- Three (3) years of management experience.
Knowledge and abilities:
- Ability to mobilize teams in preparation for a large-scale change using a teamwork and partnership approach;
- Sound knowledge of MSSS services, relevant legislation and regulations, the network and orientations of hospital and medical services, CMCs, CHSSCs (CSSSs), and mental health;
- Sound knowledge and skills in the following areas: support and care systems for in-transit patients; liaison between the professionals who manage patients and providers of secondary or tertiary care; transportation and lodging logistics systems; patient lodging management;
- Knowledge of Cree culture;

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
Strategic Responsibilities
- Ensures that services are provided within the mission, philosophy, goals and prescribed programs of the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay and Miyupimaatisiiun, according to an interdisciplinary and community-based approach.
- Contributes to the development of policies and practices for patient travel, patient housing, care support while in tertiary establishments, and the efficient use of resources.
Operational Responsibilities
- Ensures implementation, supervision and control of the policies, norms and standards of the professional practice of the various sectors in the Wiichihiituwin Montreal point of operation.
- Ensures an evaluation process of the quality and efficiency of Wiichihiituwin programs and service delivery in support of concerned managers (Directors, DPSQA and DYP).
- Participates for the Wiichihiituwin Montreal point of operation in the planning, analysis, design and evaluation, and ensures the organization, coordination, implementation and control of:
- Patient/client travel planning, appointment scheduling, medical coordination and follow-up, lodging, meals, escort service, transportation and interpretation;
- Participates in deciding on the types of services required in order to respond to the users' bio-psycho-social needs as well as cultural and spiritual needs according to the approach of the Medicine Wheel and Miyupimaatisiiun.
- Ensures the implementation of mechanisms to enable the Montreal point of operation to respond to any clinical emergency during the night, day, evening, weekend and statutory holidays.
- Participates in the development and update of an emergency plan for the Wiichihiituwin Montreal point of operation.
Functional Responsibilities
- Contributes to the provision of social and financial support to the long-term patients living outside of the territory.
- Ensures a collaboration between the Wiichihiituwin Montreal point of operation and the Hospitals of their respective corridor.
- Implements an internal and external communication plan for the area of responsibility which is complementary to that of the organization's, and ensures that information circulates properly between Montreal point of service, Wiichihiituwin and the organization. Develops effective communication and liaison with the Regional Community Health and Social Services, the Regional Hospital, Youth Protection and the DPSQA – Psycho-Social.
- Collaborates with the MUHC coordinating committee to ensure and support the partnership between the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay and the MUHC services.
Representation responsibilities
- Coordinates the committee at the round tables with the internal and external stakeholders for the programs that have already been implemented by the Wiichihituwin or the organization.
- Ensures that the users' family and other significant persons are integrated, should the case arise, into the process attached to the Service's care practice.
- Contributes to ensuring that means are implemented to control the medication, drugs and narcotics of the Service’s patients.
- Contributes to the implementation of the Cree Non-Insured Health Benefits Program (CNIHB) policies and programs.
